November is a month full of thanks and there is a lot to be thankful for this year. As a whole, our nation was rocked and shut down. There was a lot of confusion and chaos created from this- but it gave everyone a chance to realize what was truly important in their lives.
I am thankful for the screeching halt of life. It was nice to just be home with my family and eat dinner every night and not have to rush off. It was great to read books, do puzzles and craft together.
We realized how much we needed to spend time with our families, how much we missed seeing our parents, siblings and cousins. We learned the true value of a hug from a loved one.
We realized how blessed we really were. We had a house to stay in, warm blankets on our beds, food to eat. We were safe from abuse and violence. We knew that our families were safe and would continue to be that way.
I am thankful for our teachers, who in stepped up and created a whole new learning experience for our kids. Notes, treats, zoom meetings all above and beyond everything they do on a normal basis. And not to mention the food service staff that puts together breakfasts and lunches for us to pick up and have at home, so that the kids don’t completely eat us out of house and home!
I’m thankful for all the essential workers, the ones that we didn’t always recognize as essential. The grocery store employees and managers that worked tirelessly to keep the stores stocked, the cashiers putting themselves directly in harm’s way.
I’m thankful for social media- which helped keep the kids connected to their friends and helped make their lives feel a little more normal. It also made me feel more connected to my friends and it was a great way to exchange different recipes! Even though life has been crazy, there are still a lot of things to be thankful for. What you most thankful for?
